Tiles arrived on the Iberian Peninsula with the Muslim occupation, who used mosaics to cover the walls of their palaces. This new industry developed mainly due to the interest that the nobility and clergy showed in tiles, placing large orders to decorate the walls of churches, convents, palaces, manors and gardens. Among the most common representations are historical episodes, military campaigns, scenes from everyday life, religious scenes and episodes from mythology.
