The Gares Marítimas de Alcântara, witnesses to the genius of Almada Negreiros
and to so many travelers' stories, have reopened their doors to the public.
Now transformed into the interpretive center "Murais de Almada nas Gares
Marítimas", they reveal the history of the murals and the context of their creation,
the artist's trajectory and his mark on the city of Lisbon — but also the memories
of those who, for decades, embarked and disembarked at these stations.
In addition to their invaluable heritage and artistic value, with this reopening,
Lisbon also gains new spaces of excellence for holding events, conferences, and
cultural initiatives, in a unique setting that unites Almada's art with the horizon of
the Tagus River.
