Challenges of the gemological study of precious stones in pieces of jewellery of high historical-artistic and heritage value such as the Portuguese Crown Jewels on display at the Royal Treasure Museum, with examples of scientific interest and untold stories from the study carried out in 2020 on the more than 22,000 gems in the collection. After a technical introduction, in simple language, and the challenges of gemology in the context of museums, a guided tour of the museum is made, where the knowledge given with the examples on display will be reinforced.

1. Visitors must pass through a metal detector arch and their small bags will be screened using an X-ray machine.
2. Larger bags must be left in the lockers, which will be available at the entrance, next to the shop.
3. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
