Synopsis:

D. João VI is back. Between the memories of a childhood spent at the Court, his marriage to Carlota Joaquina and his unexpected departure for Brazil, the king revisits the moments that marked his life — and an entire kingdom.

On this staged visit, we follow D. João VI through his memories, between intimate episodes, difficult decisions and some stories that we hardly find in history books. From the education of a prince to the adventures of crossing the Atlantic, passing through the challenges of being a husband, father and king, each memory reveals a new facet of the character.

An opportunity to get to know D. João VI from another perspective and discover, among the pieces in the Museum, the stories of a man who lived in one of the most troubled periods of the Portuguese monarchy.

1. Visitors must pass through a metal detector arch and their small bags will be screened using an X-ray machine.
2. Larger bags must be left in the lockers, which will be available at the entrance, next to the shop.
3. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
