Visita Literária - 1821 O Regresso do Rei

In 1821, after more than a decade in Brazil, the Court returned to Portugal. With it, people, stories and part of the treasures of the Royal House crossed the Atlantic, in a journey that allows us to better understand one of the most remarkable moments in the History of Portugal.

From the book 1821, by Armando Seixas Ferreira, we will follow some of the characters and episodes that marked this return, recreating caricature, rock-solid and surprising stories. Throughout the visit, the author will share his research work and, in partnership with Professor Andreia Salvado, will bring to life episodes of this journey between two continents.

Along the way through the Museum, some of the pieces in the collection take on a new dimension, revealing the stories of the Portuguese Court, its stay in Brazil and its return to Portugal in 1821.

1. Visitors must pass through a metal detector arch and their small bags will be screened using an X-ray machine.
2. Larger bags must be left in the lockers, which will be available at the entrance, next to the shop.
3. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
